Hot Bridesmaids

Today's bridesmaids are hot! Gone are the days when brides fretted about being out-shined by their bridesmaids. Brides are opting for non-traditional bridesmaids dresses. Dresses are now in trendy colors and in the latest styles. Some brides allow their bridesmaids to pick the style they want to wear as long as it's in the wedding color. Other brides go as far as to allow the bridesmaids to pick their own dresses and shoes; both style and color! Bridesmaids are embracing these new freedoms by going for chic dresses and sexy shoes.

When the bridesmaids look good, the bride looks good :)

Engagement Shoot Outfit Fridays! - Color be Bold

It's Friday! It's Friday! I know it's been a while since I posted "Engagement Shoot Outfit Fridays". I'm sorry for that y'all.
Color blocking is not a new trend but it has become quite a popular trend lately. Every store window right now is showcasing bold and bright colors. Based on what's in stores right now, I thought I should give you an idea of a colorful engagement shoot outfit. I think the outfit is hip, modern, and fresh. Color is an instant way to jazz up your look. Today's look is dressy without being dressy. It would look amazing with a braided hair look.

Photo-shoot theme suggestion/s for this outfit
As usual, each outfit is accompanied by an engagement shoot idea that would work for the look. I instantly thought "sweet" when I was putting this look together...and then my mind raced to a cafe / bakery engagement shoot theme!
Here's an example of a lovely cafe engagement session I found via the awesome London Bride blog, photographed beautifully by We Heart Pictures. You can head over to London Bride to see more of this shoot.

With Love

You've probably noticed the never ending trend of vintage typewriters at weddings. I wonder who was the first person to think of using one as the "guest book" and as part of the wedding decor or theme..hmm? There's something about a typed out message on real paper that's sweet and heartfelt. Anyway, I think it's a genius idea that also photographs well.

Between you and me, I'd love a typewriter just to have and play around with and stare at. I think I'd be so inspired by it...who knows, maybe I'd end up typing the next great story that will then be turned into a movie :-)

Wedding Color Wednesdays: Yellow

Happy Spring, lovely people!
I'm sorry that this is my first post this week. I've been focusing on creating new working relationships with people I admire and respect in the wedding industry. I love connecting with people that are creative and passionate about what they do. They inspire me.

Anyway,  today I want to start a posting I'll call:  Wedding Color Wednesdays. Each Wednesday, I'll pick a color and show you wedding elements in that color. I remember how hard it was to choose my wedding colors (gray and yellow) so I thought that it would be nice to showcase colors for you to consider.  I know there are tons of color inspiration boards out there but one more color inspiration from me is a good thing :)

Today's color is: YELLOW!!

New Look

You probably noticed right away that the Posh Veils blog has a fresh new look. Yes...it's all dolled up now :)
Considering the new direction the Posh Veils brand is headed, I thought it was time for something pretty and bright. I LOVE the way it turned out. I hope you do too?
I spent a couple of hours, changing and tweaking things, and creating header banners in Photoshop. I think I went through 5 banner looks before I settled on the one you see now. Yes, people, I'm the "IT guy" as well. It's a good thing I love all the various "jobs" I get to do in this business :)

Books Can Be Pretty

I love books. I love books as part of wedding decor even more!!! Who knew books could make such a great decor statement at weddings? If your wedding theme allows it, do consider using books :) It's a neat idea; don't you think!?

...into a Bride

There's something about the shot of the dress just before the bride get's into it that I love. Everything a bride-to-be has been working on, and all the decisions she's made the months leading up to her big day finally come together for her. When she steps into her dress, she becomes a bride. Her vision is realized. I love that moment [insert loud squeal here]!

Take at look at these dress shots I'm loving:

Photo-Shoot Prep: Cupcakes + Flowers + Calligraphy

Today you'll see the photo-shoot design as it was on the day of the shoot. It is a mini reveal...yay! You will see the amazing work I and a  group of talented Toronto wedding industry experts put in.

Cupcakes played a major role in the photo-shoot. I was delighted to have Connie from Connie Cupcake  on board on this project. She is hardworking, reliable, and an artist that I admire. Her cupcakes are gorgeous. She and I discussed a color palette for the cupcakes and she went to work creating something unique for the Posh Veils photo-shoot. It doesn't get more customized than that. You will see the cupcakes in the images below and see what I mean when I say Connie is a superstar.

The last major process in the prep work for the photo-shoot was the flower frame for the chalkboard. I was so fortunate to have Lisa Collins from Sweet Woodruff on board as our florist for the shoot. She is professional, super talented, and super sweet!  She took my idea of framing a 4ft by 7ft chalkboard and made it a reality. She rocked. Lisa and I met to discuss the technical aspects of framing the board with fresh flowers and the color palette. We met at a Starbucks downtown and it was our first time meeting and we hit it off. In that meeting we finalized dates on when I would drop off the chalkboard to her studio. So, on Friday Feb. 10th, hubby and I woke up early to deliver the board to her private studio in Markham and she worked her magic. At 6pm we picked it up and it was stunning! There's something about seeing your vision come to life. It's an amazing feeling.

On Saturday morning day, day of the shoot, Rajiv the spectacular calligraphist behind Letters in Ink drew a beautiful feather on the board for us. He made the chalkboard come to life. His work is amazing!

I am so grateful to all the amazing Toronto talent that took part in this shoot. They are all professionals and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Now, here is the full look of the photo-shoot. All images are shot by Cristina from Geminie Photography:
